Don Young

Don joined Strategic Pay in 2004 and has naturally seen plenty of change in the remuneration and Strategic Pay landscapes.

In 2025, Don transitioned from managing a consulting team in the Auckland and wider North Island region to a Principal Consultant role as an independent contractor. In this capacity, he continues to provide senior consulting expertise in areas such as remuneration structures, incentives, directors’ fees, and linking pay and performance. Don also remains passionate about delivering training focused on job evaluation, job description writing and performance development.

With a Bachelor of Arts and post-graduate diplomas in Training and Industrial Relations, and a background in generalist HR, Don brings a pragmatic and practical approach to developing pay structures and providing pay-related advice, ensuring workable and affordable solutions for each client.

And if he doesn’t answer your call straight away, he’s more than likely playing golf but will have to get back to work at some stage!
