NZX Draft Regulations and CEO Remuneration

Written by John McGill on September 5th, 2016.      0 comments

Written by John McGill on 5th September, 2016

On the 31st of August 2016 NZX released their draft proposal review of their code of conduct for comment. Included in this review are recommendations regarding remuneration for CEOs and directors, specifically regarding increased transparency and disclosure. At Strategic Pay we endorse the draft regulations concerning release of CEO remuneration data as we believe it will:

  • Lead to better analysis and understanding of pay levels of CEO remuneration levels for listed companies
  • Bring New Zealand in line with overseas best practice hence enhancing our reputation internationally
  • Likely in time lead to non-listed organisations adopting similar practices which again will increase transparency generally

Article: Small Business Pays

Written by Nigel Murphy on August 29th, 2016.      0 comments

Written by Nigel Murphy on 29th August, 2016.

Every employer knows the importance of getting pay decisions right. To keep your organisation functioning it is critical that the right remuneration is paid in the right way to the right employees. Knowing which market you compare to, how you compare with it, and for which jobs helps to ensure that pay is both competitive and affordable. Having a structure and policy around this makes your decision making and communication that much easier.

But that’s only for big business, right?
There is a misconception that
pay structure and policy is only for large business; thought of as a large business luxury or overkill for small business.

At Strategic Pay we challenge this view – as do our small business clients. Small organisations have the same need as every business to make and communicate good pay decisions.
In fact there are added reasons why small business in particular should do so. But in order to do this effectively, small business requires a small business solution.
